CCAC Students Take Part in Opening Ceremony for BNY Mellon’s STARTUP Campus Mentorship Program
CCAC students participating in the BNY Mellon’s STARTUP Campus Mentorship Program attended an opening ceremony on Feb. 21 at BNY Mellon Pittsburgh headquarters to kick off the new semester and connect with the BNY Mellon mentors.
STARTUP Program first launched at CCAC in the fall of 2021. Since then, dozens of CCAC students have completed their semester-long participation.
“This meaningful collaboration with BNY Mellon provides an innovative path for our CIT students to learn from real-world mentors in the cutting-edge field of financial technology,” said Sue Diehl, career specialist in CCAC’s Workforce & Job Readiness Department.
Participating students have weekly one-on-one time with mentors (BNY Mellon Leaders) to gain an inside look at how technology works in a global financial services organization. Participants also discuss potential career paths and build a network with other professionals and like-minded students.
Students who successfully complete a STARTUP program may be eligible to apply for additional opportunities at BNY Mellon, including a paid summer internship called the Technology Future Talent Program, an eight-week program held over the summer that provides program participants with the ability to work on a project to gain hands-on technical experience in a certain area of technology. Program participants also receive technical training, professional development skill-building, leadership exposure, mentoring and network opportunities during the internship.
